Entrapment and Betrayal

I've been tangled in your web of deceit for far too long
You point and laugh so mockingly, entrapment be thy name
Meek and powerless am I to break your strings so strong
Sinister laughter echoes through your lair of unspoken shame

Just like a moth to a fatal flame, your beauty reeled me in
Little did I know this path would lead to such disaster
How could I predict that simple usage of this sin
Would cause a humble lapdog to betray it's rightful master?

Every day eternity, a shadow from my past
I spent it all to bide my time and just hoped for the best

I never fully realised how much I truly cared
Of how much pain and misery you managed to inflict
Until the final dagger clenched between fists of despair
relieved me so as velvet trickled down my lifeless wrists

No longer is the burden so heavy on my shoulders
No more worries do I have about the end of days
But I could speak different of you, you couldn't feel more colder

Life is much more tranquil now; I live as I so choose
But beware of what lies ahead, beware of rain and thunder
